PopStroke Myrtle Beach Opens at Broadway At The Beach

By Marlane White

Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand is the "Golf Capital of the World," home to more than 90 public courses and more than 30 minigolf courses.

Minigolf (or putt putt) has reached another milestone along The Strand with the March 4th opening of PopStroke Myrtle Beach located at Broadway at the Beach.

PopStroke is an upscale minigolf entertainment venue that has partnered with Tiger Woods and TaylorMade.

It offers two 18-hole putting courses built entirely with synthetic turf and incorporating fairways, bunkers and rough just as you would see on a traditional golf course.

I recently had the opportunity to play the Black Course, which is easier and more accessible. Unlike the carpet-like turf of other minigolf venues, PopStroke's synthetic turf is more like grass and I found it easier to play on. At night, the holes are lit up, making them easy to spot.

Even with roughs and bunkers, you only use a putter and anyone can play.

Additional amenities include:

  • full-service restaurant and bar;
  • large-screen TVs and Jumbotrons;
  • craft beer garden;
  • PopStroke Mobile App for drink delivery on the course;
  • ping pong and fuse ball; and
  • ice cream counter;
  • and kids play area.

PopStroke Entertainment Group Founder & CEO Greg Bartoli recognized the Grand Strand's growth as a year-round destination for visitors and residents as being a top reason why they selected the city. "Myrtle beach is dynamic, and it’s growing like crazy." Bartoli said the region has a significant number of visitors coming to the city, including golfers, as well as local population growth with many people coming from Canada and the Northeast.

There are currently 10 other PopStroke venues across the country with the Myrtle Beach location being the first in South Carolina.
