Family Kingdom To Add New Raptor Coaster

Family Kingdom Amusement park will debut a new high-thrill Raptor Coaster in (Late) 2026, making one of the largest ride additions in the Park’s nearly 60-year history.

In addition to the new Raptor coaster, Family Kingdom announced the addition of four new rides never seen at the park, further expanding its thrill lineup for the 2026 season. New attractions include the Inferno, Kraken, Colossus, and Crazy Chopper, offering a mix of high-energy spins, towering thrills, and family-friendly excitement.

The new rides reflect Family Kingdom’s continued investment in enhancing the guest experience while honoring its legacy as Myrtle Beach’s only seaside amusement park.

Founded in 1966, the park originally opened under the name Grand Strand Amusements before later becoming known as Family Kingdom. Over the decades, the oceanfront attraction has grown into Myrtle Beach’s only seaside amusement park, welcoming generations of locals and tourists. The modern steel coaster will feature fast-paced turns, dynamic elements, and a smoother, high-energy ride experience designed for thrill seekers, while remaining accessible to a broad range of guests.

It will join Family Kingdom’s lineup of more than 30 rides, including the historic Swamp Fox Wooden Coaster.

“As we approach our 60th Anniversary, this coaster represents our commitment to investing in the future while honoring its history,” said Corky Powers, Owner, Family Kingdom. From their beginnings as Grand Strand Amusements in 1966 to Family Kingdom today, the focus has always been on creating memorable experiences for families."

Bill Prescott, also an owner of the park, said the new attraction reflects continued investment in the community. “This is a major investment in both Family Kingdom and Myrtle Beach. The Raptor Coaster allows us to bring modern, high-energy thrill to the oceanfront while continuing to evolve a park that generations of families have grown up visiting.”

Construction is now underway, with the coaster opening to the public in late 2026. Additional ride details and specifications will be released as the project progresses.
